Working Group Workshop 1 was held at the Cumberland Cultural Centre on November 22, 2008.
A series of eight working groups, made up of Comox Valley community members, are currently working to providing knowledge, perspective and expertise in the following sustainability topic areas:
Purpose of the working groups:
Working Group members are invited to a workshop with senior staff from all four Comox Valley governments to review the draft strategy and share ideas how the sustainability strategy can be effectively implemented. Elected officials will attend the final hour of the workshop.
This workshop is by invitation only for working group members.

- Ecosystems, Environment & Parks
- Transportation
- Infrastructure
- Buildings & Development
- Economic Health
- Social Health / Community Well-Being
Purpose of the working groups:
- To provide local knowledge
- To help consultants and local government officials identify challenges and opportunities
- To create realistic visions, goals, actions, and targets for the eight sustainability topic areas
- Identify what is most urgently in need of updating or what should receive greater priority
- To ensure cross-awareness of related initiatives.
